Beauty trends come and go: remember when thin eyebrows were the coolest thing around? These days we’re more likely to wear our hair with a loose curl, swipe on a nude lip and go hard on the highlighter (thanks, Rihanna) than be seen dead with anything less than Delevingne-approved brows. But sometimes it’s hard to keep up with what’s trending in beauty — there’s just so much to break down! But as it turns out, disseminating our preferred lipstick colours and the perfect type of braid is easier than we thought, with new data released by Pinterest letting us in on women around the world and their favourite beauty trends. Analysing data over the last six months, Pinterest has broken down hair and make-up trends by country so you can see what French, Korean and Spanish girls are trying now — and what you’ll soon be reaching for, too. Behold, the biggest beauty trends of 2018.
Up a huge 700 per cent, Spanish women are searching for Russian volume eyelash extensions — a technique of lash extension which sees up to eight superfine extensions applied to a single eyelash, making for some seriously voluminous lashes.
South African women are loving twisted braids, which are up 70 per cent.
Wine stain lipstick is big in Brazil, with women searching for the look 93 per cent more.
Braids are definitely having their time in the sun in America, with searches for the hairstyle up 445 per cent.
Spanish women are searching for ondas al agua, or waves of the water, an old Hollywood-style of creating voluminous waves.
Buns are all the rage in France, with the country seeing a rise in both messy buns (up 137 per cent) and braided buns (up 272 per cent).
