The #MeToo moment has been gaining momentum in India after actress Tanushree Dutta called out to actor Nana Patekar for allegedly sexually harassing her. Later, a detailed follow up story by The Huffingtonpost on a former employee of Phantom Films accusing director Vikas Bahl of sexual harassment also took centerstage last week. Even as Phantom Films announced that they were dissolving the company on Saturday morning.
Kangana Ranaut, who had acted in director Vikas Bahl’s celebrated film Queen, came out in support of the victim and spoke out against Vikas Bahl to a web portal Pinkvilla.
(I) Totally believe her, even though Vikas was married back in 2014 when we were filming Queen, he bragged about having casual sex with a new partner every other day. I don’t judge people and their marriages but you can tell when addiction becomes a sickness,” Kangana said in a statement.
The actor said she was “shamed” for not being cool enough by the director, who, Kangana says, was scared of her. “But still every time we met, socially greeted and hugged each other, he’d bury his face in my neck, hold me really tight and breathe in the smell of my hair. It took me a great amount of strength and effort to pull myself out of his embrace. He’d say ‘I love how you smell K’. I could tell something is wrong with him”.
However, a controversy followed between Kangana Ranaut and Sonam Kapoor over this.
when Sonam spoke over Kangana’s statement on Vikas Bahl at an event. Speaking at Vougue We The Women summit in Bengaluru, Sonam Kapoor applauded Tanushree Dutta’s courage to speak up against veteran actor Nana Patekar. When asked about Kangana’s #Me Too story and her allegations against Vikas Bahl, Sonam Kapoor said, “she says a lot of stuff and sometimes is hard to take her seriously. I love the fact that she has spunk and she says what she believes.” Her entire quote can be heard in the video below.
Well, it seems that Sonam Kapoor’s statement annoyed the Manikarnika actress Kangana Ranaut. Reacting on Sonam statement, Kangana lashed out at her in an interview to a portal.
Reportedly Kangana said to a portal, “What does she mean by saying, ‘It’s hard to believe Kangana’? When I am sharing my #MeToo story, who gives her a right to judge me? So, Sonam Kapoor has the license of trusting some women and some she won’t. What makes her so unsure of my claims? I am known to be an articulate person and I have represented my country in many international summits. I am called as a thought and youth influencer to these summits, I am not known because of my dad I have earned my place and credibility after struggling for a decade.”
The actress also reportedly added, “She isn’t known to be a great actress, neither has she had the reputation of being a good speaker. What gives these filmy people right to take digs at me? I will demolish each one of them.
